My Way a film by Qing Wang
My Way explores the dark side of Chinese immigrants seeking the American dream, through the innocent eyes of, six-year old Laura (Emily Chen). When her abusive American stepfather Peter (Frank Piciullo) goes after Laura in a drunken haze her mother Helen (Ge Ganga) murders him. After the mother’s murder sentencing Laura is placed in the custody of her equally emotional abusive aunt Cindy (Grace Yang) and cousin Austin (Matthew Chen). Laura literally buries her childhood when she makes a fatal decision for her own survival when her cousin starts molesting her by following her mum’s footsteps.
